My paintings are a meditation on the space between chaos and form, something and nothing, becoming and dissolving. They are syncretic, wrestling with realities, and modalities. Fields of color are pregnant with possibility. The essence of color gathers its potency in darkness, and dissolves in light. Images as words come to us from a place that has no language, from the space of knowing before you can find the means to describe. Time appears linear and expands in horizontals and layers.
In my paintings, I explore the possibilities of color relationships arising out of a single color field, creating movement and tension, and illuminating the relationships arising between them. As they change, colors breathe themselves into new forms, transforming.
The fleeting nature of our perceptions, and the poetry of articulating human experience, inspires my painting.
Painting creates a life of its own in the absence of descriptive reference.
Layers of paint, like a mystery of time, cloak the memories, forming new encounters.
The horizontal movement, become a reference to infinity, and impart a sense of endlessness. Colors as life, appear and disappear, continuously transforming from within.
My paintings are about relationships, borders, boundaries, and how they meet.
The horizontal fields of color naturally emerge out of color in my paintings. They create spaces in- between them, which become contemplations on how we connect, or separate, borders and boundaries of our relationships. I paint an inner landscape, yet deeply affected by the landscapes around me, and the memories. Growing up in the farmlands of Poland, I experienced an endlessness of the sky and Earth, stretching into infinity through the thin lines of the ever changing horizons. The idea of infinity, just like pure art, seems inconceivable when following the logic of our linear reality, yet, it is the unknown which draws me in.The image of the Horizon lines have been an important part of my biography and therefore my painting. It is one of those concepts, a phenomenon, creating illusion of a line which seems so real, but it is not there in reality.
